After winning Le Samyn, a second place at GP Criquielion and a sixth place at the Ronde van Drenthe, Milan Menten has added a third place at Nokere Koerse to his strong start of the season. At the end of a tough race, which was animated by Lotto Dstny, the 26-year-old Belgian sprinted to the podium on Nokereberg.

Victor Campenaerts, Arjen Livyns, Jasper De Buyst and Florian Vermeersch all showed themselves during the 1.Pro race in and around Nokere and made it a hard day out. Eventually, Florian Vermeersch was only caught in the final straight by the sprinting peloton. In that peloton, it was Milan Menten who could save forces throughout the day. He sprinted to third place after winner Tim Merlier and Edward Theuns. “I really need to thank our sports director Nikolas Maes for the race plan, which really was in my favour today”, said Milan Menten after the race. “We wanted to put fatigue in the legs of the fast sprinters. That succeeded with first Victor Campenaerts, then Jasper De Buyst and in the final Florian Vermeersch. I still tried to slow things down for Florian, because I really wanted him to make it. When he got caught in the final metres, it was up to me to sprint.”

Menten once again sprinted to a fine result and crossed the finish line in third. His best result in a 1.Pro race. ‘I started my season really well with the victory in Le Samyn. This gives confidence, both to myself and the team. We did another solid race as a team today. The atmosphere in the team is really good and everyone is on a good shape. This is only promising for the upcoming Classics.”
