After five days of racing, Lotto Dstny rider Liam Slock finished second in the overall rankings of the Olympia’s Tour. In the windy last stage, Liam Slock was part of a breakaway which lasted until the finish line. The 22-year-old Belgian had to settle for a seventh place in the stage, which resulted in a second place in the general classification.

Liam Slock: “It was a hectical stage race in which the wind played a prominent part. Fortunately, I was never surprised by the wind. When I was able to take off with the leading group, I knew I had a chance on the final victory. During the penultimate climb it became clear that my legs weren’t good enough and I had to let go.”

At the start of the race I was aiming for a top ten position in the final classification. I am very satisfied with this result, and I know that together with the team I did everything in my power to win. It just didn't work out in the end, but I want to thank the team for all their hard work.

Neo-pro Liam Slock looks back at these past few months with a satisfied feeling.

“I have suffered a lot in those first months as a pro, but above all I enjoyed it enormously. I am most of all looking forward to my first Paris-Roubaix now, where I hope to  learn a lot.
