Race 20 May 2024

The Lotto Dstny Development Team participated at the first edition of the Gran Premio New York City. A race of 137 kilometers with 2000 altitude meters with start on the George Washington Bridge. With 65 kilometers to go, Milan Donie attacked solo. Behind him, Johannes Adamietz jumped to the front with three other guys. The bunch didn’t come back and we saw the four leaders sprinting for the victory. Tibor del Grosso won, Adamietz sprinted to a third spot. Donie became fourth.

“It was a tough race from start to finish”, Johannes Adamietz looks back. “In the beginning there were lots of attacks. In the middle of the race we had two climbs, which were quite hard. Milan (Donie) attacked solo and then I thought that it could be good to join him in the front. Our sprinter Liam (Van Bylen) could try to hold on in the bunch. We were with four guys and had a bit of pressure from the back as six riders were fifteen seconds behind us. We attacked one by one, Milan sacrificed himself but unfortunately I came too short in the sprint. In the end it was a really nice race, also very special to discover New York City. We enjoyed it.”
