Race 20 May 2024

A day after the Antwerp Port Epic, the Ronde van Limburg promised a bunch sprint. Several attacks during the 196 kilometers from Hasselt to Tongeren didn’t avoid the expected scenario. The break of the day consisted of three riders. The bunch controlled the break, with among the controlling teams Lotto Dstny, which saw the gap going down quickly with 60 kilometers to go. After that a lot of attacks, but nobody could take it to the finish line. Arnaud De Lie, who won the race in 2022, sprinted to third, after yesterday’s fourth spot.

“In the final it went so fast that I didn’t know what happened. It’s always difficult and even more difficult if you need to brake. Dylan Groenewegen deserves it, he is a top sprinter. I’m happy after the work of the team. Maybe we came a bit too fast in the front but we can be happy with this third place. The first time together with Joshua Giddings also went well. I took confidence for what comes next.”
