Alec Segaert finished off the week in Belgium with a seventh spot in the general classification, after taking the golden kilometer in the final stage.
Race 16 June 2024

The final stage of the Baloise Belgium Tour promised a sprint, and so it was. In the heart of Brussels, the bunch sprinted for the victory. Tim Merlier (Soudal Quick-Step) was the fastest, Lionel Taminiaux became ninth. Earlier in the stage, Alec Segaert made himself move up in the general classification, by taking the golden kilometer. The 21-year-old finally finished seventh.

"It was really nice, the team gave me a full leadout towards the golden kilometer. We waited the first sprint, because all the fast guys really go for it there, so I knew before the race I had to go for the second or third sprint. There I saw a good moment, I move up two places with one good sprint so that's super nice", Segaert says.

"My week started well, with a fifth time in the opening time trial. In the queen stage in Durbuy I didn't lose too much time, so I'm happy with this week. The Belgian Championship time trial next week is a big goal for me, my shape is good so I will go all out for it."
