ProTeam 4th place for Arjen Livyns in the individual time trial at the Sibiu Cycling Tour

Amidst all the Tour madness, one might overlook that there is also some serious racing happening in Romania. Arjen Livyns (29) finished fourth today in the individual time trial of the Sibiu Cycling Tour.

A busy schedule for the riders in Romania, as they faced not one, but two stages today. The day started with a flat sprint stage of 103 kilometers in and around Sibiu and ended with a short but technical time trial of 3.5 kilometers in the city center. Milan Menten sprinted to seventh place this morning, and Arjen Livyns took a nice fourth place in the time trial this evening.

"I had set my sights on this," Livyns says. "A short, technical time trial with some ups and downs on cobblestones: that's my kind of thing. After this morning's stage, we took half an hour to explore the course. I was able to memorize the turns well and made the right tire choice. Starting at 7:30 PM made it challenging to recharge for a second time after this morning’s race, but I managed a flawless time trial and I'm satisfied."

The team started the Sibiu Cycling Tour with overall ambitions for Lennert Van Eetvelt, but after two stages and unfortunately a flat tire for Van Eetvelt in the time trial, they have given up on that goal. "We are collectively in good form, but the results have not yet come. Lennert didn't feel at his best on the first day, and today Milan got boxed in and couldn't fully sprint. Tomorrow's stage ends with a 25-kilometer climb, so now we're aiming for a stage win with Van Eetvelt or Sylvain Moniquet. That would be nice."
