The 27-year-old British rider Chris Lawless will reinforce the Lotto Dstny Development Team with immediate effect as he signed an agreement until the end of this season. Lawless – already part of several renowned pro teams in the past – will now share his broad experience with the Lotto Dstny Development Team riders. Besides, he will also be deployed in several races with the ProTeam.

“A rider like Chris Lawless - who has extensive experience at pro level – is a very useful addition to Lotto Dstny”, says Kurt Van de Wouwer, sports manager at Lotto Dstny. “His strengths are mainly to be found in the sprint preparation, but he can also handle himself in the one-day races. That is why we seized this opportunity and he will race for the Lotto Dstny Development Team, where he will mainly share his experience with the youngsters. Besides, Chris will also be deployed in races with the ProTeam, where he can be an added value for our sprint leaders Caleb Ewan and Arnaud De Lie.”

Lawless will debut for the Lotto Dstny Development Team in his own country by the end of this month, at the Rutland-Milton Cicle Classic on 23 April, followed by the seven-day Tour de Bretagne in France.

“To join such an iconic team as Lotto Dstny is something I’m really excited about and I’m grateful for this opportunity”, says Chris Lawless.I think I can bring a lot of the knowledge I picked up over the years to the team and pass it on to the youngsters. I really enjoy helping out the younger guys. I’ve already done so in previous years and it’s nice I’ll be able to do that with the Lotto Dstny Development Team now. Hopefully I can help them in becoming better bike riders and of course I’d like to help guys like Caleb Ewan or Arnaud De Lie as well. The one-day Classics and sprint races are the ones I feel I can perform in. Of course I’d also like to show what I’m still capable of but the main focus will be about sharing my experience in the team”, concludes the 27-year-old.
