The Wim Hendriks Trophy is a one-day race, part of the U23 Road Series. The Lotto Dstny Development Team also appeared at the start, with six riders. With success, as Milan De Ceuster nicely finished third in the Netherlands. "I rode attentively throughout the race and never wasted unnecessary energy," he said. "Because of the strong wind, echelons were formed, and I was always in the first group."
With 60 kilometers to go, a leading group of nine riders broke away from the peloton, including De Ceuster. The group built up a lead of one minute. "From that group, Huub Artz and Lars Vanden Heede eventually rode away, and we had to let them go. I had no answer for them. However, I had confidence in my sprint for the third place, and I managed to secure it. I can be satisfied with that."
