Development Lorenz Van de Wynkele leads Tour du Loir et Cher after winning first stage

The Lotto Dstny Development Team started the Tour du Loir et Cher today, with a 183km stage going up and down to Vineuil.

"I rode to the two leaders when we had done 75 kilometers, we were with five in the front then”, Lorenz Van de Wynkele says. “On the local laps we were still with four, as one guy dropped. In the last lap we rode with three guys to the finish, I won the sprint. I was confident for the sprint, despite it being a close call in the end. I’m happy I could hold it until the finish line.”

The 22-year-old Van de Wynkele is the first one to wear the yellow leader jersey for the second stage tomorrow. “I’m super happy I finally take that win. It gives confidence, today was a really important one for me. Tomorrow we will defend the jersey, and of course we will try to go for another stage victory.”
