Development Joshua Giddings fifth in the third stage of Le Tour de Bretagne
The third stage of the Tour de Bretagne went from Pontivy to Guérande. It was a soaking wet ride, but that's right up Joshua Giddings' alley. "I handle that quite well, rain and cold," he says. "I'm used to it, coming from England (laughs). Today was no exception. I had good legs. It was my job to be in the breakaway, and I managed it. It was quite a big group, including my teammate Lorenz Van De Wynkele. We worked well together but were caught after 40 kilometers. That gave me a chance to catch my breath."
Giddings made several attempts to attack himself. "I really had strong legs and wanted to apply pressure. And I succeeded because the peloton split. In the local laps, Jakob Söderqvist from Lidl-Trek Future Racing made his move. Initially, I tried to stay with him, but his attack was too powerful. My good legs failed me just when I needed them most. That's disappointing. Initially, I was a bit disappointed with my fifth place. But as a team, we took control of the race today and showed ourselves, so I should actually be satisfied."
