Race 28 April 2024

The fourth stage of Le Tour de Bretagne Cycliste took place today, Sunday, from Le Croisic to La Gacilly. Joshua Giddings finished fifth yesterday, Liam Van Bylen was second in the opening stage, and the Devo riders of Lotto Dstny ride on that momentum, as Van Bylen secured another second place in France. "At the beginning of the race, I immediately felt that I had good legs," he says. "In the final lap, there was a climb of just over a kilometer and I was consistently well-positioned at the front according to plan. Only in the final lap did I struggle quite a bit. Fortunately, Joshua noticed. He provided me with a super good lead-out to bring me back to the front. In the final corner, I was perfectly positioned. 'I'm going to win,' I thought... Until I, when I wanted to raise my hands in the air, suddenly saw the winner Baptiste Veistroffer. At the start of the second last lap, the screen at the finish indicated that a rider was still 40 seconds ahead, but in the final lap, I saw nothing, so I thought we had caught him. Not so. Oh well, in the end, I'm still happy. I would have liked to win, of course, but with two second places, I can't complain."
