Development Strong day of Jarno Widar at Alpes Isère Tour

The second stage of the Alpes Isère Tour from Val de Virieu to Saint-Savin promised to be a tough one. Seven riders took a lead up until four minutes, but not for long as the pace in the bunch was set higher by also the Lotto Dstny Development Team. Both the leading group as the bunch fully exploded in the final, with steep climbs. Jarno Widar and some other riders joined the front, which made 13 guys in the lead.

In the end only six guys survived, among them a strong Widar, who sprinted to a third spot and sits second in the general classification now: "The team did a perfect job today to position me well. On the long steep climb I didn’t go solo, as it was too far from the finish. At 8km to go I chose my moment, but that was a bit too late so I got caught again. In the end we sprinted with 6 for the win, I became third, I’m happy with the feeling. I felt well, after some difficulties with sickness it’s nice to feel I become better each day. The last day will decide all for the GC, so we will see how it goes.”
