The expected bunch sprint couldn't be avoided in the Netherlands. Anna Van Wersch sprinted to a strong fourth spot.
Race 25 May 2024

In the Netherlands the Ladies prepared for a race of 120 kilometers. With a flat profile, the difficulties came after 65 kilometers with some cobbles. Despite five sectors, a bunch sprint was the expected scenario. After the cobbles, six riders had a gap but the peloton never panicked. At 25 kilometers from the finish another attack attempt didn't go to the finish line.

The promised bunch sprint couldn't be avoided. Sara Fiorin (UAE Development Team) won and Anna Van Wersch sprinted to a strong fourth spot. "When there was a break gone without one of us, the team did good work in the bunch. We knew the chance on a bunch sprint would be big and my teammates helped me to position well in the last lap. Fourth was the highest possible, as I was stuck in between barriers and a rider. Even though I just missed out on the podium I’m very happy, it gives confidence and shows that I am able to take good results in a UCI race. We are hungy for more", said a happy Van Wersch.
