Race 09 June 2024
The Brussels-Zepperen Fruitroute fell into place after just 15 kilometers, on the second cobblestone section of the day. Eight riders, including Liam Van Bylen and Tars Poelvoorde, broke away from the rest. "We worked super well together," said Liam Van Bylen. "I agreed with Tars that we would further thin out the group on the last section, which was after a hundred kilometers of racing."

Eventually, five riders remained to enter the local laps. "I told Tars that we needed to play the team game and that he should try to break away. He did try several times, but unfortunately without success. We then decided to play my card. Tars then led the full lap and a half at the front. He kept the pace up so no one had the chance to break away. This allowed me to finish it off in the sprint. Without Tars, I could never have won. He was the strongest man in the race and rode on a different level today."
