ProTeam Florian Vermeersch third at Dwars door het Hageland

Lotto Dstny rider Florian Vermeersch has finished third on the Citadel of Diest, at the end of Dwars door het Hageland. In the heat, the many gravel sectors on the course made for a natural selection. Lotto Dstny had three guys in the front group with Frederik Frison, Mathijs Paasschens and Florian Vermeersch. Eventually, the race was decided the penultimate up the Citadel in Diest, where a select group rode away. It was Florian Vermeersch who would battle with Stan Van Tricht and Rasmus Tiller for the victory. The Norwegian proved the strongest, Vermeersch was not fully satisfied with third place.

“The heat made it a really tough race, you really had to measure your efforts carefully. I had really good legs, maybe to win today but in the final turn I made an error and was distanced a little. I managed to close the gap but the victory was gone. I’m a bit left with an empty feeling while I should be happy with today’s performance. This finish suited me really well but onto the next race! With three Lotto Dstny riders up there in the crucial part of the race, we can look back with satisfaction”, reacted Florian Vermeersch after the finish.
