Arnaud De Lie will take part in the Belgian road race championships in Izegem this Sunday. However, the Lotto Dstny rider will not start as the leader of the team. He primarily wants to help his teammates in the battle for the Belgian tricolour.

De Lie crashed hard in the 4 Jours de Dunkerque opening stage and suffered from a pneumothorax, a fractured collarbone, a crack in the sternum and a fractured rib. Two weeks ago, the rider was given the green light to train full again following a period of recovery. For the Lotto Dstny rider, the consequences of his crash aren’t causing any inconvenience anymore. De Lie especially wants to help his teammates in Izegem.

“Arnaud will start without any stress”, says sports manager Kurt Van de Wouwer, “he knows he’s not 100% yet but he especially wants to be at the Belgian championships to contribute to the team. To pin on a race number again, will give him a big mental boost after a long period without racing. Arnaud is not thinking about the title, he just wants to race and help the team where he can so he can leave to the Livigno altitude training camp with a good feeling.”
