ProTeam Caleb Ewan sprints to second place in Elfstedenronde

Lotto Dstny rider Caleb Ewan has finished second at the end of the Elfstedenronde in Bruges. With a strong field of fast guys, a bunch sprint was written in the stars on the pan flat course. Eventually, it was Jasper Philipsen who proved the fastest, Caleb Ewan finished second with a strong sprint.

Despite a podium place, Ewan hoped for more. “I came here to win, then you’re of course disappointed with second place. Jasper did a good lead-out, but maybe he went a bit too early, making me sprint early as well. I thought it would be better to wait a little more, but the guys did a great job today. This gives us confidence for the upcoming Belgium Tour, my final preparation race so I hope to make it a nice five days of racing’, Ewan said after the race.
